Professor Julian Bion (left), the immediate past Dean of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine, is seen with LSA President Dr Janice Fazackerley. Professor Bion looked at how to improve the quality of healthcare with particular emphasis on critical care medicine. This was a lecture with vast content within both the slides and his verbal commentary on them. It highlighted the ever increasing complexity of healthcare in this country and the reasons why most of us feel increasingly powerless to bring about significant change within it. The message was not to give up!
