In his last meeting at the front of house, the President, Dr Ewen Forrest, used his address to talk about something far more important than anaesthesia; sport and in particular the legend of Bill Shankly, a charismatic and ambitious leader who turned this city's name into a symbol of sporting dominance that was to endure for three decades. The audience was principally made up of those from the Shankly era which was slightly disappointing as this was a talk far more about values and leadership in the context of sport.
