We are delighted to have Mrs Elizabeth Wheeler, the Area Coroner for the Sefton, St Helens & Knowsley Coroner Area, talk to us on Tuesday 17th November 2026. Mrs Wheeler started her career specialising in healthcare regulation before diversifying her practice to include crime and extradition. She has a specialist healthcare advisory and regulatory practice, which includes inquests, court of protection work and mental health law. In this lecture she will share how to communicate concepts from anaesthesia and intensive care medicine, with statements and oral evidence, along with identification of what is and isn't helpful within the coronial process. We look forward to learning some lessons from her experiences. She has been described as having excellent communication skills in being able to simultaneously support both the family and medical witnesses during a highly emotional and stressful time.

This evening meeting will be held at the Liverpool Medical Institution. We will start with the reception and drinks at 18:30. We look forward to seeing you there.
