Abstract Submissions

Open to ALL Mersey and North West Anaesthetic

Residents / Clinical Fellows / SASG Doctors

Top 5 submissions will be invited to give a 10 minute oral presentation

1st Place - £500

Runner Up - £250

 

All other submissions will be entered into a poster competition

1st Place - £250

 

Submission Deadline - Friday 1st May 2026 23:59

Shortlisting to be announced Monday 11th May 2026 via email.

To enter, please submit an abstract (including title, authors' names and workplace, text, table, figures, references and acknowledgements) which should not exceed one A4 page to livsocanaesthetists@gmail.com.  This will allow 450-500 words, or 250-350 words plus a table or figure.

We suggest using the following structure:

• Introduction/Aims

• Methods

• Results

• Discussion/Conclusions 

• References/Acknowledgments

 

Or for Case Reports: 

• Description

• Discussion

 

Please make sure you have the relevant permissions/ethics approval for your abstract, (where relevant), including written patient consent where patient details or images are used.

Once accepted, depending on the number of submissions, there may be a shortlisting procedure. Abstracts will be marked according to Methodology (or Importance of Message if a Case Report), Clarity, Novelty/Originality, and Significance/Impact/Relevance to Clinical Practice. 

 

The top five scoring projects will be asked to make a presentation in person at the meeting, which should last no more than 10 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of questioning. Projects completed by groups are more than welcome to be submitted, but only one person can present. 

 

The winning presentation will be picked on the day by delegates using slido, taking in mind the above criteria, plus the overall presentation style, content, time keeping and question answering. 

 

If your project is not shortlisted for oral presentation, you will be invited to present it as a printed poster instead during the meeting. Again, the posters will be voted on by delegates on the day to decide the winner.
