It was with great sadness that the society learnt of the death of Dr Tony Gilbertson, a Life Vice-President of the society and former Consultant Anaesthetist and Intensivist at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. Dr Gilberston was one of the founding fathers of Intensive Care not only in Merseyside but also in the UK. He was a big character and made a large and very positive contribution to Critical Care and Anaesthesia in Liverpool both before and after retirement.

Everything is now confirmed for the new academic year and Father Pat is ready to relieve Frank Potter of his medal. Hasn't Frank done well not to have lost it? Mind you, he did have the advantage of rarely having to take it anywhere outside his house over the last two years!
